Here’s a fantasy football profile & package of what I saw over the preseason and offseason:
Top 3 sleepers that could be a starter and a backup:
Number one, wide receiver Michael Crabtree joined the Ravens over the offseason and he didn’t have the greatest season but still did have a good season. For quarterback Joe Flacco he would need this since wide receivers been off and on the Ravens like crazy. So, take him in the 5th to 6th round.
Number two, quarterback Alex Smith just transitioned over to the Redskins after getting released by the Chiefs so now Smith is going to have to learn a new playbook and start up with new receivers and running backs. So, I would still be taking him in the 3rd to 6th round.
Number three, Colts tight end Jack Doyle did set a career high in receiving yards (690) last season. With quarterback Andrew Luck coming back from a shoulder injury this would help things but tight end Eric Ebron might be the starter and Doyle the backup. So, I would take him in the 6th to 7th round.
Top 3 players to avoid at all cost:
Number one, Panthers running back CJ Anderson wouldn’t be the player to pick in the draft but if starting back Christian McCaffrey gets hurt then pick Anderson in free agency because he’s not in his prime really any more and only had 1,000 rushing yards last and should of had more but with the QB changes and how difficult it was in Denver last season. I would advise NOT drafting him at all, but if McCaffrey does get hurt then put him in as your backup RB for fantasy, right? Even though the Panthers have a great offensive line and quarterback and blockers, it will only help Anderson achieve 5-10 points per 2 games.
Number two, Philadelphia Eagles added tight end Dallas Goedert which will help the Eagles a little bit but overall Zach Ertz is still the starter. Maybe Goebert will do a little good when Ertz’s needs a breather, but it does help when Trey Burton and Brent Celek got released so he could have more playing time. So, I would suggest that you draft him in the late 4th round.
Number three, Chargers running back Austin Ekeler wouldn’t be your first or string back on your team because he’s only mainly used on third down and getting about 5.5 per carry but you also have to keep this im the back of your mind that Melvin Gordon is starting running back and Gordon has been progressing nicely. So, I would suggest taking him in the late 3rd round.
Top 3 rookies with potential:
Number one, Jets quarterback Sam Darnold has potential because he looked good in the preseason and with Teddy Bridgewater getting traded to the Saints and the Jets naming Darnold the starting job nothing is stopping him from starting. If all goes well you could see a new rising quarterback for fantasy football. So, I would suggest taking him in the 2nd round to late 1st.
Number two, Cardinals wide receiver Christian Kirk would be a potential rookie because with the newly added quarterbacks and new players added to the offense this could be Kirks year to show the Cardinals he was the right pick. But, you also have to remember Larry Fitzgerald will be the starter and Kirk and be his backup. Also, before I forget their main receivers GONE so Kirk this will help him a lot. So, I would take him in the 2nd to middle 3rd.
Number three, Giants running back Saquon Barkley with the Giants having no good backs in the past seasons this could be Barkley’s turn to turn that around and help with the blocking and rushing so Eli Manning doesn’t get killed out there. So, I would suggest taking him in the 2nd to early 3rd round.
Top 3 players that will be breakouts:
Number one, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will have a big part in the Chiefs offense now since the Chiefs traded starting quarterback Alex Smith. Mahomes have been very impress in the preseason and just shown that he can be a starting quarterback to when last season he played week 17 and he has the weapons in rushing, blocking, and receiving. So, I would suggest taking him in the first to second round.
Number two, Bears tight end Trey Burton never had a great career when he was in Philly but since he’s going to be the starting role for the tight ends down in Chicago he’s going to get at least 10 points per game because the way the Bears been building this offseason Burton could easily get fantasy points and look like a stud. So, I would suggest even though he's first string but I would take him in the late third early fourth.
Number three, Eagles running back Corey Clement has potential to be a PPR stud for the Eagles even though Jay Ajayi is the starting back. Clement shocked everyone when he rushed for 100 yards in the super bowl against the Patriots and if he can do something like that every game then we have a second string running back for fantasy. So, I would take him in the second to late fourth.
