UPDATE: According to reports, Jaguars RG A.J. Cann has been sidelined with an undisclosed injury over the last three weeks and may not be cleared for mandatory minicamp.
Jaguars’ HC Doug Marrone reiterated that they will not rush him back and will continue to take a cautious approach with his injury. “He’s out there now in a limited role,” Marrone said, via Mike Kaye of FirstCoastNews.com. “I think we’re just trying to be cautious and see what happens when the mandatory minicamp comes. I wouldn’t be surprised if he takes a couple of reps, but I think he will go in that same category of risk [versus] reward. Get him in there and if there is a little bit high level of risk, it’s probably not worth it for the three days and he can just continue the way he has. Or [the trainers say], ‘Hey listen, we really don’t see a lot of risk and he can go out there and take a couple of plays.’ I would let him go out there.” Cann, 26, is entering the final year of his 4-year/$3.372M contract and stands to make a base salary of $1.907M for the 2018 season.
